you’ve got friends. a new golo feature

I am happy to announce a new GOLO feature that will allow you to stay closely connected to your GOLO friends and encourage you to make new ones.
With the new GOLO “Friends” feature, you can request a friendship with another member by simply clicking the new “LET’S BE FRIENDS” link located on their profile page.
Once that request is accepted and the two of you officially become “friends” you will be able to keep track of your new friends activity on GOLO, which includes their new blogposts, image galleries, changes to their profile page and when they become “friends” with other GOLO members.
Cool , huh?
Well, that’s not all.
Your “friend” will also be able to keep track of YOUR new blogposts, image galleries, changes to your profile page and when you become friends with other GOLO members as well.
So, how will you know when someone wants to be your friend?
When someone has requested to become your friend, you will see the phrase: “NEW FRIEND REQUEST” next to the main image on your profile page.
If you click that link you will be taken to a list of your “pending friend requests” where you can see who the requests are from and choose to either *approve* or *decline* their request.
Once approved, you will see a list of your new friends recent activity show up in a new box located directly underneath the “favorites” box on your profile page that’s labeled: “My friend’s recent activity” You will also see an indication in that box that you and that person are now friends.
(Note: This box will NOT appear on your profile page until you have made at least one friend. )
This new box can hold up to 10 items, and will contain the most recent activity of ALL of your friends.
So, if you have one friend who has created 5 blogs and made 5 new friends in the last 10 minutes while your other friends have been inactive, that friend’s activity will fill your box until one of your other friend does something new. Likewise, if you have only one friend, and they’ve only created one item, your box will hold that one item only.
You can access your friends list by using the arrow next to your user name which you currently use to get to your blog, recent comments, favorites, image galleries and profile. You can also access the friends list of other GOLO members using the same method.
What happens if someone declines your request?
If your friendship request is declined or you decline a request, you simply will not become friends. You should, however, allow time for others to accept your request until everyone gets in the habit of checking their profile page for these new “friends” requests.
Now go off and make some new friends.
And please send feedback to both me and that self-proclaimed good-looking web developer Rusty, who makes all of these cool features…cool.
-Angela
Note: If your profile is set to "private" you will be unable to send friends requests.
