house: my first argh!!!!!

Well, everything has gone so smoothly with the house that I suppose there HAD to be a glitch somewhere. It's precisely the reason we have wanted to do all the work ourselves. It's just so hard to find people who treat your things the way you would treat them yourself!
Don't get me wrong, the framers have done an exceptional job and for a new construction, I would highly recommend them! But I'm so incredibly frustrated right now I could cry!
They are building our garage and tying in the roof to the existing house. ALL we asked was that no roofs be removed unless they could be put back together promptly and w/no rain in the forecast. If it had to wait until after Christmas, that was fine by us. Our ONLY concern was that the hardwoods did NOT get wet! We told them before they removed any roof that there was a call for rain and it would be better to WAIT until after Christmas. They opened the house up anyway and told us they would be back the next day (Dec. 22). They didn't show and we scrambled trying to get the tarps up and in place. It rained and flooded 3 rooms downstairs - all the hardwoods - living room, dining room and kitchen! Well, we spent Dec. 23 mopping and shop-vac'ing as best we could-keeping our fingers crossed that it wouldn't buckle the wood floors.
The framers showed up again on Dec. 24 (we didn't expect them to work that day). They got all the rafters up and in their defense, they tried to get the tarps in place. But again, the downstairs is flooded.
Throughout this entire process, it has been the wood floors that has been very special to me. Perhaps things will still work out and any moisture will be out and no major damage done. Maybe any problems can still be sanded out when that time comes. But it just upsets me that the ONLY thing we asked was to NOT remove roofs until/unless they could be put back before rains. This is the only week this entire year when we've had a consistent forecast for rain and they opened us up for it. If the wood floors are not damaged, I'll be fine with it and move on. If they are damaged beyond repair, ...... something about some place hath no fury like......

No sheeeet, Sherlock! However, you can look at WRAL and see if it's going to rain. You dealy tearing my house up until there is a stretch of dry weather and you plan to SHOW UP!
*deep breath* OK, venting is over. It just boggles my mind when contractors act cocky. When we are on a job, we treat it as if it were our own place and we treat the PAYING customers like they are gold. We don't cop attitude, we show when we say we will and do what is requested.
