quotes, sayings, adages... what's your favorite?

Now I'm sure that many are thinking "who gives a rip", but after skipping around reading this and that article and such, I am reminded of something my grandmother was quite fond of saying. I confess that as I age, the notion becomes more and more applicable. The saying was: 'Tis better to be silent and thought a fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.
Another great one, courtesy of a cast iron trivet in the same granny's kitchen is: "We get too soon old, and too late smart", which was actually written in other than the King's style of English, but was easily translated.
