need advice

I am posing a question to all GOLO people. My 5 year old asked me a difficult question tonight. He asked me why doesn't his parents live together. I gave him an answer I knew he would understand - Mommy and daddy couldn't get along living in the same house. Sound fair to yall? It is a complicated answer that I knew he wouldn't understand. Mistakes were made on my part as well as my ex-husband. Because of some of my faults, my ex feels that it is my responsibility to explain the way things are.
My question is: What is the appropriate age to explain the dynamics of what happened?

BTW my girls hate it because they can't play the play Mommy against Daddy game like a lot of their Friends do *LOL*

If you feel like you are raising your children the right way then you should feel good with the response. I don't think there is a right or wrong way, only your way to communicate with your child. There has to be some good resources somewhere for that, for guidance of course. Good luck!

Wonderful for the kids to see that the adults, their parents and new significant others ALL care about the kids!

>>Yes,we don't treat our adult children at 25 like we do at 5.No One needs all the details.but they do however deserve something. It's all about deliverance at 5...keep it simple and never ignore your child's questions.
