house: the work begins

Good morning to all! Long time, no post. Things sure did slow up a bit now that the house is at it's new home. We've been very busy, though! Lots to do now, but nothing as big as the actual move. That is still mind-boggling to me.
Now that the house is on the land, we are getting things ready for the brick mason. We've ordered all the blocks, brick, sand, mortar mix, foundation vents, etc... He began work yesterday. Hopefully I'll be able to take some pictures today and show the progress. If all goes well, he'll have enough completed and we can set the house down this weekend! WOW!
In the meantime, we've been trying to do some repairs on the seals around the house. There are a couple of areas where the wood is rotten (mostly around the doors). We spent one Satuday repairing the wood by the back door. This past weekend, my husband went out and started on the front. It didn't take long to realize that perhaps it would be best to hire a framer for that part. We met with someone yesterday who will do those repairs. While we want to do as much as possible ourselves, we do know when we are in over our head. **** Some might argue THAT comment by the simple fact that we even attempted this project. :-D ****
Beside those things, we've been chipping mortar off the bricks from the original foundation and chimney. That's tedious work, but it's coming along. The kids are having a blast helping. Whether we are chipping mortar, stacking bricks, shoveling the footings or just exploring the yard, they are there helping. I am so eager to move.
Not really much to update yet, but hopefully we'll have some milestones soon!
