house: it's. still. standing...

The song, "I'm Still Standing" by Lionel Richie keeps running through my mind. (yeah, yeah, yeah). ... Nothing says indigestion quite like eating supper in Fuquay, listening to the storm pass overhead, thinking, "I wonder how the house is faring?" and then getting a phone call from Mom that a tornadoe touched down at McGee's Crossroads. Well, nothing we can do about it so no need to rush from supper to get out there to check things out.
We did hurry things along, however, and drove out to check on things. All I could envision was a strong wind toppling the house off the trailer. Afterall, it's just sitting perched on the beams. It's not strapped down. Thank goodness it's fine! The yard was flooded a bit, but we DID need the rain. We just kept trying to chuckle while we were driving there and said if the house was lying on it's side, the crane is already there, we'll just roll it back over.
When we got home, I pulled up WRAL to check on the storm. Imagine my shock to see a photo of a tornado at a neighborhood on Old Stage Road near Hwy 42. THAT'S MY NEIGHBORHOOD! I guess that saying, "when it rains, it pours" fits this evening perfectly.
Now we're home and the storm seems to be subsiding for the moment. Hopefully things will continue with a nice steady rain (preferably straight down), but no more extremes. And come morning, we will be at the Crossroads bright and early, with clear skies, to see the house separated.
I'm glad we got this long overdue rain, but it has definitely increased my stress level just a wee bit! :-D

Today is one of the big days. We are getting ready as quick as we can to go out to the house and watch the crane separate the levels. Keeping my fingers crossed that we didn't have much water get into the house during that rain last night.
