Goldsboro woman charged with assault, kidnapping

A 22-year-old Goldsboro woman was arrested Monday in connection with a fight that happened on Friday at a home on Level Street, police said.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A 22-year-old Goldsboro woman was arrested Monday in connection with a fight that happened on Friday at a home on Level Street, police said. 

Jasmine Darinesha Best, of 607 W. Oak St., is charged with one count of second-degree kidnapping, one count of attempted second-degree kidnapping, one count of assault inflicting serious injury and one count of simple assault. 

According to police, Best tried to kidnap a woman after assaulting her. When the victim's mother intervened, Best allegedly kidnapped her and drove 10 blocks before letting her go. 

The mother was taken to Wayne County Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries, police said. 

Best was held on a $25,000 secured bond and scheduled to make her first court appearance Tuesday. Authorities expect to make more arrests in the ongoing investigation.
