— Goldsboro police arrested a man and charged him with robbing a Family Dollar store on Monday night.

A Family Dollar cashier called police around 6 p.m. to report that a man had robbed her at gunpoint at the store, 553 E. New Hope Road.

She told police the man was black and that he was wearing a camouflage baseball cap and a blue sweatshirt. He pointed a silver and black handgun at her and demanded money, she said.

The man left in a dark colored Dodge Stratus and got away with an undetermined amount of money, she said.

An officer spotted a vehicle and driver matching the cashier’s description. Officers arrested Bennie Barnes Musgrave II, 30, after finding evidence of the crime on him and in his vehicle, police said.

The cashier also identified Musgrave as the one who robbed her, police said.

Police took Musgrave to the Wayne County Jail and placed him under a $50,000 secured bond for robbery with a dangerous weapon.

have you looked at the news lately goldsboro isnt the only place that is a "hotspot" for crime. Raleigh is ALWAYS in the news for crime. Not everyone thinks goldsboro is a bad place to live. Maybe yall should try living here before you bad mouth it!

Don't need to live there. Six years AF Reserve assigned to SJAFB. There were guys in my unit that were Goldsboro PD and WCSO, one was Selective Enforcement Unit(SEU) for GPD. I was staying in the Best Western on 70 one time and a guy got shot right outside my door. I have also worked security for a VERY short time in Green Acres.

Since WRAL didn't accept my previous post I'll attempt to write so that no feathers will be ruffled.

This man should have used a tricycle to make his getaway, I mean he couldn't have been worse off than using his car like he did, but he is after all a crook and they are known not to have too much upstairs!

Goldsboro has always been a hotspot for crime. I don't know why anybody would want to live there, other than the AF personnel assigned there (that don't have a choice).

Good job by the Goldsboro Police Dept. An officers attention to detail got this guy. Goldsboro is getting to be a rough place, and the officers have a dangerous job. Might as well call it Eastern Durham.

Goldsboro is becoming a "hot" spot for crime. Glad the crook was caught.

Smart move. I mean, if you're going to rob a place, might as well make it worth your time and knock off a place with BIG money like, you know, a Dollar store. Something tells me if there were a Penny Store, the Bennster would be all over it....
