Goldsboro police arrest 22-year-old charged in teen's shooting death

A 22-year-old man charged in the shooting death of a Goldsboro teen was taken into custody Tuesday at a hotel on Sunburst Drive.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A 22-year-old man charged in the shooting death of a Goldsboro teen was taken into custody Tuesday at a hotel on Sunburst Drive.

According to investigators, Rashad Terrel Daniels shot 17-year-old Jerome Barnes Jr. on Aug. 8 while Barnes was sitting in a car at a convenience store in the 500 block of East Elm Street.

Barnes was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital and later sent to Vidant Medical Center, where he died.

Daniels, who is charged with murder, was taken into custody at the Irish Inn Motel, police said. He as being held in the Wayne County jail Wednesday without bond and will make a first court appearance Wednesday.
