Goldsboro man charged with sexually abusing child

A Goldsboro man was charged Monday with sexually abusing a child after a joint investigation by Goldsboro police and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Goldsboro man was charged Monday with sexually abusing a child after a joint investigation by Goldsboro police and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

Willie Brewington, 45, of 3541 Brewington Road, faces one count of attempted first-degree rape of a child and four counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor. He was placed in the Wayne County jail under a $300,000 secured bond.

Police said the investigation was opened after a complaint was filed on Aug. 19 with the sheriff's office and police department.

Brewington has convictions for forgery and driving while impaired dating from the late 1990s, according state Department of Correction records.
