Goldsboro man charged 30 years after sexual assault at Pizza Inn

A man was arrested on multiple charges Friday for sexually assaulting a woman outside of a Pizza Inn restaurant in 1987.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A man was arrested on multiple charges Friday for his connection with a sexual assault outside of a Pizza Inn restaurant in 1987.

Officers with the Goldsboro Police Department have charged 52-year-old Sylvester Earl Braswell with first degree rape, first degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and breaking and entering for his connection with an incident that occurred 29 years earlier.

Braswell was identified as a suspect in 1987 after a woman was assaulted outside of the Goldsboro restaurant.

Braswell is being held at the Wayne County Jail and given a $805,000 secured bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 3.
