Goldsboro man arrested for church break-in

— Goldsboro police arrested Jackie Franklin Sutton, 38, for breaking into New Hope United Methodist Church.

Sutton is charged with:

  • Felony breaking and entering a place of worship,
  • Larceny after breaking and entering,
  • Possession of stolen goods,
  • Two counts of obtaining property by false pretense, and
  • Misdemeanor larceny

    Stealing is a horrible crime. It is often neglected as a "terrible' crime, as some think that is what having insurance is for...and thus, offenders are often given light sentences, and multiple times at probation. For petty thief..maybe one chance at a "mistake" on your part via probation...after that, some REAL time in the big house and no multiple probations. Stealing from a church..even if petty...you'll certainly pay for that one later.
