Goldsboro man arrested after citizen reports breaking and entering

Posted March 28, 2013

— Goldsboro police arrested a 25-year-old man Tuesday after a concerned citizen reported seeing him breaking into an apartment at 2708 Warrick Circle.

The caller stayed on the phone, directing officers to the apartment, and gave them a description of the man and the vehicle he was driving.

Police got to the apartment shortly after 1:10 p.m. and found that the man had damaged the door and fled the scene. Officers saw a vehicle and a man matching the description the caller provided and stopped the car.

Police arrested Cornelius Earl Jones, who was positively identified as the man the witness saw, and charged him with felony breaking and entering and felony attempted larceny, police said.

Jones, of 2201 Royall Ave., was held in the Wayne County jail under a $10,000 secured bond.

"This incident exemplifies the benefits of the police and citizens working together to make a positive impact on our community," police said in a statement.
