GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Goldsboro man is facing weapons charges after police said he fired a gun into a moving vehicle earlier this month.

Goldsboro police said Friday that Javarius Rashad Williams, 20, of the 2800 block of McClain Street, was arrested by a Wayne County sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop Tuesday near Dudley.

Police said they were called June 3 to the parking lot of the Beestown Grocery on South Slocumb Street for a report of a shooting. They said Williams shot into the windshield of a moving vehicle, prompting the driver, identified as Antonio Lamm, to jump out to escape injury. The empty vehicle traveled across the street and crashed into a fence.

Williams is charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied conveyance in operation and providing false information to a law enforcement officer.

He was held in the Wayne County jail under a $210,000 secured bond and had a first court appearance Wednesday.
