Raleigh, N.C. — St. Patrick's day is this weekend, and there are dozens of events around the Triangle to bring out your inner leprechaun. There are all kinds of events, and even if you're not Irish, everyone's invited.

Raleigh

St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival at Fayetteville Street and Moore Square – The parade kicks off on Saturday at noon, followed by the Wearin' O the Green Festival at Moore Square with dancing, music, food and fun.

Block Party at Tir na nOg – Traditional Irish food, music and brews on Saturday afternoon and evening.

Who's Your Paddy? at Big Boss Brewery – Start the celebrations early with live music, special beer releases and The Last Barfighter on Thursday.

State Patty's Day Hike on Hillsborough Street – The St. Patrick's Day-themed Hillsborough Hike will be on Saturday evening.

St. Patrick's Day Fundraiser at Whole Foods in Raleigh – Whole Foods is hosting a family-friendly festival on Saturday with green beer and food. Proceeds benefit the Whole Planet Foundation.

46th Annual Kilt March from Top of the Hill in Chapel Hill to Southern Rail in Carrboro – This pub crawl starts at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Wear a kilt if you have one!

Requisite safety message

St. Patrick's Day is commonly associated with drinking and the Governors Highway Safety Program wants you to keep it in checl. The St. Patrick's Day Booze It and Lose It campaign will have checkpoints and stepped up patrols through the weekend.

Officers are trying to cut down the number of deaths and injuries due to drunk driving accidents. During last year's St. Patrick's Day campaign, there were 160 alcohol-related crashes that resulted in 3 fatalities and 141 injuries.
