Go Chapel Hill, along with its Go Triangle partners, has received the Goodmon Award for Strategic Partnership.

The Goodmon awards are presented annually by Leadership Triangle, a nonprofit organization that educates and promotes regional collaboration across the Triangle.

Go Chapel Hill partners with bike advocacy groups, UNC-Chapel Hill, the Town of Carrboro, the business community, public and private schools, and residents to promote the use of alternative transportation in order to make for a healthier community for all ages, in which to work, live and play.

The Go Triangle Regional Partnership project has reduced 237,412 daily commute miles traveled (equivalent to a daily trip to the moon) and eliminated 27,047 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions.

The Goodmon award is named after James F. Goodmon, president and CEO of Capitol Broadcasting Co., chair emeritus of Leadership Triangle and a leader in promoting regional collaboration and development.

The award presentation was made Thursday at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham.
