Go Ape, the popular treetop adventure course that opened in north Raleigh last year, has a new addition.

The Treetop Junior course will open Friday and is designed for kids under age 10, who were too young to try out the main course at Blue Jay Point County Park just north of Raleigh. The Raleigh location is one of 15 Go Ape courses across the country. It's the company's third Treetop Junior course.

“Opening a junior course at Blue Jay Point County Park just for younger children is thrilling because it supports our mission to help everyone live life adventurously,” said Go Ape Managing Director Dan D’Agostino in a press release. “Parents will see their kids test their abilities and gain a sense of self-satisfaction and confidence that is unique to our courses, while enjoying the beautiful park setting.”

Go Ape’s Treetop Junior course is designed for all ages and includes tree-to-tree crossings, obstacles and two zip lines at heights of 20 feet above the ground. It's designed for ages 4 and up, but anybody who is 3 feet, 3 inches or taller can participate. The safety systems are designed so that participants stay attached the whole time they are in the trees, according to the release. Kids under six must be accompanied on the course by an adult, while children ages 6 to 15 must be supervised by an adult either from on the course or from the ground.

The course is available for birthday parties and youth groups, in addition to individuals and families.

As part of the grand opening of the junior course, any guest visiting either July 16 or 17 will be automatically entered to win a $100 gift certificate, good for use on either the new Treetop Junior course or the Treetop Adventure course.

The Go Ape's Junior Treetop course cost $28. It's best to reserve your spot through the Go Ape website.
