Glenwood restaurants offer Wednesday deals for families

As part of an effort to draw more people to the popular Glenwood South area, there's now Wednesdays on Glenwood where restaurants and businesses offer special deals, including kids eat free.

The Glenwood South area in downtown Raleigh has been growing over the last many years with all kinds of new businesses, office spaces and residential projects.

As part of an effort to draw more people to the already popular area, there's now Wednesdays on Glenwood where restaurants and businesses offer special deals.

The deals are varied - from special craft projects at Ornamentea to half off bottles of wine at some of the restaurants. There also are some special deals just for kids.

At Shuckers Oyster Bar & Grill, kids 12 and under eat for free from the kids menu with each qualifying adult purchase. This is good for lunch or dinner on Wednesdays only at the Glenwood Avenue location. (It also has $3 off specialty martinis). The kids meals, which normally are $4.99, include entree choices such as shrimp, chicken fingers, cheeseburger or pasta and sides such as broccoli, veggies, mandarin oranges and fries.

Carolina Ale House also offers a kids eat free deal on Wednesday to kids under 11 years at its Glenwood South location.
