Now that Black Friday is behind us, it's time to think about Giving Tuesday - an effort to encourage donations and volunteer service to the many great nonprofits and groups around the world.

In the last week or so, I featured three local groups - Note in the Pocket, Triangle Spokes Group and miraclefeet - and the local moms who help run them. Please take the time to consider them or other local groups as you make your holiday gift and spending plans!

Note in the Pocket: Provides a two-week school wardrobe to impoverished and homeless children in Wake County.
Triangle Spokes Group: Provides new bikes at Christmas to needy children in Wake County.
Miraclefeet: Provides treatment for club foot to children in impoverished countries around the world.
