— An emu is on the loose in Gibsonville.

The big bird was spotted on Monday and has, so far, eluded capture, according to the Gibsonville Police Department's Facebook page.

Authorities are asking the public to help find and catch the avian escapee. Police also want to know where it came from in the first place. It is unclear when the bird flew the coop.

Anyone with information about the bird should call the non-emergency dispatch number at 336-449-6677.
