Get Your Bloom On at Bloemencorso!

Posted September 8, 2013

I love flowers. You love flowers. Who doesn't love flowers! I especially love it when people come up with amazingly cool ways to use flowers, and Bloemencorso, an annual festival that takes place in Zundert, the Netherlands, may just take the cake. I just missed the festival this year, but it's totally going on my calendar for next year, because it involves making amazing floats with fantastic, huge art pieces made entirely out of flowers.

Move over, Burning Man. These floats take months to assemble, with a last-minute flurry to attach all the flowers so they'll still look fresh and beautiful on festival day. Dahlias in a huge range of stunning colors are used, showcasing the natural beauty of flowers and the incredible range of this flexible bulb. These oversized floats must be absolutely incredible in person, and this festival is serving as a reminder to me to start thinking about planting bulbs for fall.

It's enough to make a Miami landscaper jealous: imagine what you could do if you were using tropical flowers!
