Here's a fun activity for young kids at home this week ...

Prairie Ridge Ecostation's Nature Play Days program is 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday. The ecostation in west Raleigh, an outdoor learning lab for the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, will be stocked with extra materials and supplies, along with a museum play facilitator, to help kids and families get creative in their play.

According to the program description, supplies change each week, but include fort-building equipment, puppets and costumes, bubbles, paint, giant blocks, and more.

It's an informal, drop-in event. No need to register. And it's free. It's best for kids ages 7 and younger. Prairie Ridge's website has more information. Prairie Ridge's nature play space also hosts storytimes at 10:30 a.m. every Thursday.

Prairie Ridge is at 1671 Gold Star Dr., Raleigh.
