GRANVILLE COUNTY, N.C. — A Georgia man was arrested Sunday morning in Granville County after the fatal shooting of his girlfriend.

According to officials with the Granville County Sheriff's Office, authorities tracked Keitren Foots, 30, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, from DeKalb County, Georgia to Granville County after the shooting death of his girlfriend.

Officials say the victim was shot 23 times.

Authorities said they used Foots' cellphone to track him down, and they arrested him around 2:45 a.m. when they found him in a shed off the Highway 158 Bypass on the edge of Vance County. Before that, Foots was spotted in a hotel parking lot and chased down Interstate-85.

Authorities in Georgia said Foots approached 35-year-old Sharika Bowman's SUV on Friday as she entered the driveway of her home and shot her. A family member, who did not want to be identified, said Bowman was working hard to provide for her family at the time of her death.

"She is a great mother. She was working on her RN license and she was on the road to making a better life for herself and her children," the family member said.

Family members said Bowman leaves behind five children, who rance in age from teenager to infant.

Foots is being held at the Granville County Jail under no bond, and authorities from DeKalb County are on their way to retrieve him.
