Gov. Pat McCrory has hired Kim Genardo, a political reporter for WNCN-TV, as his new communications director.

Genardo replaces Chris Walker, who spent about two months on the job before announcing he would return home to Tennessee.

“Kim Genardo is a very talented professional who has a wealth of experience in media and covering state government," McCrory said in a statement. "We are thrilled to have her as part of our team.”

Genardo, a Chicago native, spent 14 years at NBC-17 and has also worked at WGHP-TV, the Fox affiliate based in High Point.

"She has made a mark in this community by making it her business to know the legislature inside and out," NBC-17 News Director Andrea Parquet-Taylor said in a story posted on the station's website

Genardo begins her new job on Feb. 27.

She will still be in the minority. Most reports/newspeople are clearly liberal.

good luck, hope you don't become unemployed.....your new fuhrer has gutted benefits for those less fortunate...heil Mccrory!!! Budgeting the burdens on the back of ordinary citizens, what a disgrace...I'll pray for you....

Wish her well. Now WRAL can bring in an unbiased reporter. Genardo couldn't say "Democrats" without sneering.

"She will no longer have to strain herself half-heartedly applying a thin veneer of neutrality."

It's not as if anyone in this market strains very hard to cover their bias, right or left.

No surprise! Her republican bias was quite palpable during the newscasts. She will no longer have to strain herself half-heartedly applying a thin veneer of neutrality.
