Gas line repair disrupts Cary traffic

Cary, N.C. — A contractor hit a natural gas line in Cary Monday morning, knocking out services to scores of nearby residents and closing Carpenter Fire Station Road for several hours.
A construction crew hit a 3-inch gas line shortly after 8:30 a.m., and Cary officials closed Carpenter Fire Station Road between Cameron Pond to Cary Glen Boulevard so repair crews could fix the damage.
The line was capped by 10 a.m., but there was no word on when the road would reopen.
About 200 nearby PSNC Energy customers lost service, and officials said the gas wasn't expected to be turned back on until Monday afternoon.
