Raleigh, N.C. — Progress Energy workers cut a gas line by accident Tuesday morning in the area of Culpepper Lane and Crabtree Boulevard in east Raleigh, a company spokeswoman said.
Police and fire officials evacuated five nearby homes as a precaution, a police spokesman said. The leak was capped just after noon, but three homes remained without service.
Repairs were expected to be completed Tuesday afternoon.
