— The Raleigh Fire Department responded to a gas leak at the corner of Davie and Wilmington street in downtown Raleigh Thursday morning.

A spokeswoman for PSNC Energy said a contractor cut a 1.25-inch line near a parking deck at 331 S. Wilmington St. shortly before 11:30 a.m.

Crews capped the leak about 15 minutes later.

Nearby intersections were blocked off while crews were responded, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or buildings being evacuated.

Why would the PNC buiding be evacuated? It's at the other end of the block. I would have expected the Hudson or the Capital Bank Buildings to be the first cleared out since they are right next to that intersection.....unless the leak was further down...towards Martin St.

Yes, Davie and Wilmington... it was right in front of the public parking deck intrance on Wilmington St.

The PNC Plaza building was evacuated. Not sure about any others in the area.

Fayetteville and Wilmington don't intersect. Is that Wilmington and Davie in the picture?
