Durham, N.C. — Firefighters had to evacuate a residential area near Guess Road and Peppertree Street in Durham after a report of a gas leak late Friday morning.
Angie Townsend, a spokeswoman for PSNC Energy, said contractors working in the area accidentally damaged a large gas line and that crews shut off the gas valve at 12:50 p.m.
About 49 customers were without service at the height of the outage, Townsend said.

Justmy2cntz, you are correct, we have had to tune to WRAL for years to get any news from Durham even though WTVD is officially a Durham station.

LOL! This is true, but I thought maybe they'd have a local standby since they still keep trucks at the old spot downtown. I've always watched WRAL anyway to find out about Durham news.
