— A large gas leak on Wednesday morning in Zebulon closed a road while crews worked to repair the damage.

Town officials said road construction crews on Worth Hinton Road damaged a large natural gas line around 8:30 a.m. Emergency and utility crews were on scene around 11 a.m. working to repair the line.

Worth Hinton Road was closed to all traffic, and officials said the nearby GSK building was evacuated briefly, but employees were allowed back in.

Officials said repair efforts are likely to take several hours to complete, but they do not anticipate any customers losing service during that process.
