FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — A Garner woman faces assault charges after authorities say she deliberately crashed into a nightclub outside Fuquay-Varina last Thursday, injuring two people.

Crystal Dawn Barr, 35, faces two counts each of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and driving while impaired and one count each of communicating threats, hit-and-run and reckless driving.

Deputies said that workers at Mama Rabbit's Motor Lounge, 7304 N.C. Highway 55, refused to serve Barr anymore, so she said she was going to hit the building.

Barr drove her car into a picnic table and a column on the building, then backed up, hitting another vehicle before getting out of the parking lot, deputies said. Two people at the picnic table suffered minor injuries.

Shortly after, her vehicle ran off N.C. Highway 50, near Pierce Road, and struck a tree, state troopers said.

Barr assaulted rescue squad members and a deputy at the wreck scene and then a doctor at Johnston Memorial Hospital, troopers said.

She was placed in the Wake County jail under a $50,000 bond. She was scheduled to appear in court May 2.
