Garner woman faces assault charges in nightclub crash

Posted April 13, 2011

— A Garner woman faces assault charges after authorities say she deliberately crashed into a nightclub outside Fuquay-Varina last Thursday, injuring two people.

Crystal Dawn Barr, 35, faces two counts each of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and driving while impaired and one count each of communicating threats, hit-and-run and reckless driving.

Deputies said that workers at Mama Rabbit's Motor Lounge, 7304 N.C. Highway 55, refused to serve Barr anymore, so she said she was going to hit the building.

Barr drove her car into a picnic table and a column on the building, then backed up, hitting another vehicle before getting out of the parking lot, deputies said. Two people at the picnic table suffered minor injuries.

Shortly after, her vehicle ran off N.C. Highway 50, near Pierce Road, and struck a tree, state troopers said.

Barr assaulted rescue squad members and a deputy at the wreck scene and then a doctor at Johnston Memorial Hospital, troopers said.

She was placed in the Wake County jail under a $50,000 bond. She was scheduled to appear in court May 2.

Evidence - "I feel bad for her family."

I feel sorry for any kids she may have, but her family are probably rabble rousers too. That's the way it is out here - conservative and nice, and rabble rousers. ;o)

"She was placed in the Wake County jail under a $50,000 bond."

Suspected murderers and child molesters get less bond.

I wouldn't step one toe in a nightclub that allows people to come in wearing overalls.

nc guy....you HAD to be reading my mind! The entire article, my only thought was...."dueling banjos".

She IS however, racking up her charges. Assaulting an officer or first responder is a felony. Sadly, she could try and beat the hospital staff down and its a misdemeanor....BUT...it looks like she took a swing at everyone she could. Her charges will add up. I feel bad for her family.

she was in fact refused several times and to top it off, her date left with someone else - thank goodness or he would have been injured as well. I hate that she is in the same city and zip as me.....GROW UP Ms. Barr, you are going nowhere FAST!!!
