— Ten Garner homes have been broken into in recent months during the morning hours after residents left for work, police said Tuesday.

The burglaries occurred in the Edgebrook, Forest Hills, Forest Landing, Heather Hills, Southview and Staunton Meadows neighborhoods, police said. Flat-screen televisions, small electronic devices and weapons were stolen in most cases.

The burglars entered at least two homes through unlocked windows, police said, but most of the cases involved breaking through a door or window.

Police urged residents to watch for people or vehicles that usually aren't in their neighborhood and to call 911 to report any suspicious activity.

Anyone with information about the previous break-ins is asked to call Investigator G.E. Davis of the Garner Police Department at 919-772-8810.

Now that school is out, these houses that the criminals think are empty after the parents leave for work may very well be occupied by teenager(s). If they break into a house and find a kid sleeping on the couch, it could be a bad situation.

The Garner PD needs to make an increased presence in these and nearby neighborhoods.

These guys hit my Mom's house a few months back stole guns and costume jewelry. Police are unable to help much, her house gets robbed every few years. Garner has some rough spots they try to gloss over with Scotty fever.

All these neighborhoods, including Cloverdale, are in close proximity to Westchester apts, Forest Hills apts, Sandlin Branch and Bryan Woods apts. Odds are the theives are from one of these neighborHoods.

This sounds very similar to burglaries in the Battle Bridge Road area in Raleigh last Nov - Jan, only those were usually in the afternoon and not the morning. Word has it they used teams of 3, 2 inside and 1 lookout, with multiple teams hitting different neighborhoods on the same day. I heard it was suspected it might be juveniles on break from school, but they're organized. Possibly gang related? They've also ignored home alarms as they're in and out before police can respond. Unless police are already in the neighborhood, they won't get there in time.

I've asked the Garner Police to patrol our neighborhood randomly throughout the day but I've only seen them circle the block once. Maybe they should start parking their patrol cars in the neighborhoods to deter theft like they do at local businesses. Hopefully all the honest residents will keep their eyes peeled and perhaps aid in the capture of these thieves.

jlcoop, in the box to the left of the story, where it says related, it shows the breakins. The little burglars are cute! Real ones not so much.
