— A Garner man has been sentenced to more than 15 years in prison for distributing child pornography, authorities said Monday.

Matthew Kenneth Popke, 27, was sentenced last Thursday to 188 months in federal prison, followed by a life term on supervised release. He also was ordered to register as a sex offender.

Popke pleaded guilty last August to distribution of child pornography.

An undercover investigation tracking the exchange of explicit photos on peer-to-peer computer networks traced some material to Popke's computer, authorities said. A search of his computer turned up more than 133,000 images of child pornography.

The sad part is, he gets 15 years for pictures (which he should, don't misunderstand) but someone with 2 counts of indecent liberties with a 12 year old is sentenced to 10 and out in 6. Makes no sense!
