Garner man arrested in Tennessee rape

Posted August 8, 2010

— A Garner man has been charged as a fugitive who fled rape and assault charges in Tennessee, according to arrest warrants.

Dontay Derwen Jones, 18, of 113 Alaverde Way, faces charges of aggravated rape and assault in Anderson County in Tennessee. The charges stem from an incident that occurred three years ago.

He also faces charges of possession of marijuana in Wake County. He was arrested and placed in the Wake County jail Sunday under a $501,000 secured bond.

Jones' mother, Latausha Pinkney, has filed court documents claiming that he is incompetent to manage his affairs or make important decisions and requesting that a guardian be appointed for him.  The documents state that he has been diagnosed with schiozoaffective disorder and has been hospitalized recently.

He is accused of luring a 34-year-old woman there, hitting her in the head with a shirt-covered dumbbell and choking her while pushing her face into a sofa.

Poor Dontay, huh Latausha? I guess that little girl made him rape her.....Can someone please hand me a tissue?

"Pinkney has launched an effort to draw attention to her son's plight and has sent news releases about his case to area media outlets."

He wasn't incompetent to commit rape. Give me a break. He knows how to commit crime, then let him do the time.
