Garner bicyclist injured in hit-and-run

Garner police are seeking the driver who hit a bicyclist early Monday and then drove away.

GARNER, N.C. — Garner police are seeking the driver who hit a bicyclist early Monday and then drove away.

Police said a vehicle struck Alejandro Lopez Ramos from behind as he was riding a bicycle north on the shoulder of the northbound lane of the 200 block of Weston Road around 1 a.m.

Ramos suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Ramos was hit by a burgundy 2000 to 2004 Buick Century or Regal, police said. It has damage to the right, front corner of the passenger side.

Anyone with information on the driver's identity or whereabouts of the vehicle is asked to call police Detective Grant Davis at 919-772-8810.
