— A Wake County school bus was involved in a wreck in Garner on Thursday morning.

A garbage truck collided with a bus at the intersection of Creech and Old Garner roads, Garner police said. The bus was headed to Timber Drive Elementary School, Wake County public schools' spokesman Greg Thomas said.

Four of the children on the bus were taken to a nearby hospital after complaining of neck and back pain. They have since been released. The remaining 24 children were taken to school.

The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.

A lot of these truckers drive without regard for the public.

Just about an hour ago I saw a Pate Dawson Company truck speeding down I40 East tailgating cars and passing people in the no truck lane near the airport.

Why not say, Bus accident not wreck and make it sound so much worse than it is. I'm not saying, I'm just saying......its not the first time for over drama headlines.

I worked for Garner Trans.(WCPSS) for 13 years and during that time the drivers were top notch. Since the new operations mgr.came to power in Garner, the good drivers have either left or retired. The quality of school bus service in the Garner area has dropped off considerably. This is due to the incompetence of the operations manager and her staff. I wouldn't think of putting my children on one of their busses.

    Retired and loving it!

Yeah, but the real story is the Alves Plan coming out tomorrow. Enjoy its short lived life cycle, because it will never the see the light of day in Wake County.

I got hit by a bus driver who ran a four way stop. She didn't even get a ticket. They are protected by the county (and insured by the county, as well).

The back and neck pain those kids had as a result of the accident was probably legitimate.

well, I wonder if the roads were icy? you know after all that snow that fell...LOL...seriously, I hope all the kids and drivers will be ok, but it did strike me funny when I read that "elementary" kids were complaining about neck and back injuries........sounds like some people I know who are always looking a check when an accident happens..."OH, ny neck, my back..." I'm sure we all know some folks like that.

What is going on with all the School Bus accidents these days. I know it's not always the School Bus in the wrong and most of the time it is the other driver. Something needs to be done, what I don't know, but this is becoming an every day occurance and someone is going to get hurt bad if not killed.
