— The outdoor chain Gander Mountain is filing for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and closing 32 underperforming stores including those in Morrisville, at 2100 Village Market Place, and in Charlotte. The chain has 7 other stores in North Carolina, including on on Capital Boulevard in Raleigh

After Gander Mountain completes the round of consolidation it would have 130 stores across the country.

The company estimated that about 1,300 people would lose their jobs.

Gander Mountain is also the parent company of Overton's (www.overtons.com), a leading catalog- and Internet-based retailer of products for boating and other water sports enthusiasts.

and here's another big box store closing it's doors after just a year or so in Morrisville. So who is going to move into that location? most likely no one, so it will sit empty for how long or get torn down and replaced. That would be very lucky, so many places around the state are not that lucky. Empty or nearly empty strip malls or big box anchor stores sit empty with little hope of ever getting a life again. I've alway thought that someone city/state should require owners to put up some $$ to allow the city to tear the building down and replant the vegetation back in it place or convert it into a park or something the city can use.
