As I launch this year's Made by Mom Gift Guide, here's a little update on a mom who was part of last year's guide.
Becky Wofford, a mom of two, has a line of mostly sterling silver jewelry for men and women. She makes all of her jewelry from raw metal and semi precious stones. Click here to read my feature about her from last year's guide.
In May, Wofford tells me, she opened Anvil Studio & Gallery in the Mordecai section of Person Street in Raleigh. Anvil features locally made jewelers, metalworkers and fine craft. It represents 23 artists from the Triangle, along with two more from other parts of the state. Anvil also has metalsmithing classes.
On Dec. 15, the gallery will host the Person Street Holiday Art Market on Franklin Street in Raleigh. Wofford tells me there will be art vendors, food trucks, music and more.
To learn more about Anvil, check its website and Facebook page. Congratulations Becky!
Of course, Becky isn't the only mom from last year's guide who went on to bigger things this year after being featured in our guide. Kelly Smith-Tilly was a finalist in Martha Stewart's American Made contest this year for her screen-printed tea towels, scarves, kids’ clothes and prints.
