— The manager of a Fuquay-Varina Subway restaurant was charged Wednesday with sexually assaulting three employees, including a 17-year-old girl.

Garfield A. Oates, 38, of Angier, was charged with three counts of sexual battery, according to the Fuquay-Varina Police Department.

On Feb. 11, a woman who used to work at the restaurant reported that Oates has sexually assaulted her while she worked there. As authorities investigated, two women who previously worked at the sandwich shop reported being sexually assaulted by Oates.

Each incident was reported to have occurred at the location at 1326 N. Main St., near the intersection of Main Street-U.S. 401 and Judd Parkway.

Women young and old in every job imaginable are subject to sexual misconduct on the part of male superiors. It's a power trip for the men, who don't give a thought to how terrified working class women are of losing their jobs. And it's not as if they can give a prospective employer the REAL reason for leaving their last post. Those who vilify the Fox accusers--and there are many--have no idea what working women deal with.

Now that this has come out, this particular Subway will probably be getting a new manager. Let's hope it's a better one.
