A Fuquay-Varina school is inviting the public for a storytime this Tuesday as part of a national celebration of literacy in early childhood programs.

At 3 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21, staff at Ashebridge Children's Academy of Fuquay-Varina will read "Bunny Cakes," by Rosemary Wells. The story, part of the popular Max and Ruby series, follows the characters in their quest to get the ingredients to make a cake. The reading is part of the Read for the Record project, which aims to record the most people reading the same book on the same day.

Christine Teander, the school's director, said she'd love for the public to come out for Tuesday's event. The school is at 916 Old Honeycutt Rd., Fuquay-Varina.

"It's a huge nationwide project and [we] are so excited to be a part of it," Teander wrote me in an email.
