For the sixth year, Fuquay-Varina and the Fuquay-Varina Police Department will host Teen Day Fuquay, an alcohol and distracted driving awareness program for teens.

Teen Day Fuquay is designed for kids ages 11 to 18 and offers the opportunity to experience the realities of mixing alcohol and texting with driving using a variety of hands-on, high tech activities to simulate the effects in a safe environment, according to a press release.

More than 5,000 teens have attended the program in the past five years. More than 1,000 are expected at this year’s event.

It's set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, at South Park, 900 S. Main Street, Fuquay-Varina. Teens will take part in a series of 11 activities that will help them learn the realities of mixing drinking and texting with driving. The town's fire and police departments also will simulate a dramatic rescue at a drunk driving scene at noon.
It's free! More information is on Fuquay-Varina's website.
