Fuquay-Varina manager resigns

Posted July 2, 2013

— Town Manager Jon Barlow has resigned, Fuquay-Varina officials said Tuesday.

Barlow submitted his resignation Friday, and the Board of Commissioners accepted it during their Monday night meeting, officials said. No other details were provided about his departure.

Andy Hedrick, who served as town manager for six years before retiring in 2010, has been named interim town manager. His contract will run through the end of the year while town officials search for a permanent manager.

Have to love the "Growth for the sake of Growth" crowd.

Caryoke is right. I live just outside the town limits, but consider myself a resident of FV. The people running the town are more interested in curbing growth than encouraging it. The town is going backwards and looks as bad as Angier. Holly Springs continues to make FV look worse and worse. Everytime I go to Holly Springs to shop or eat, I see people from FV.

I was there last weekend and thought how run down the town seems. The old McDonald's is an eyesore! So much could be done with this small growing town!

A constant mess in FV. Since certain town people worked to undo the non-profit athletic association that did everything for the town and local people, and saved the town a bunch of money, now seems like the town manager and parks director are all of a sudden gone. If people knew how much that is costing which means that an art center/cultural building may not take place or taxes will have to go higher. Look at Holly Springs if you want to see how to run a town. We will see how many on the board will run again... At least FV does have the Aviator to keep people around.

I hope Jon is just going on to bigger and better things, that his health is fine. Good luck, Jon. I'm sure FV will find a great Town Manager to replace him.
