— A Fuquay-Varina man charged in a BB&T bank robbery in Apex last March was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in federal prison.

Van David Kalcevic, 22, pleaded guilty Oct. 15 to bank robbery by force and violence and by intimidation and to knowingly using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

Upon his release, he will also serve five years of supervised released.

Apex police say he robbed the bank branch, at 1130 Bear Creek Commons Drive, of approximately $4,422, and then stole a bank employee's car to get away from the scene.

At the time he was charged, Kalcevic had been in the Wake County jail for unrelated charges.

So, Lindasue, what do you think robbing a bank and stealing a car should warrant for punishment? Until the risk associated with committing a crime is raised to the point of being a deterrent, crime will continue to flourish. Personally, I'd like to see the Cool Hand Luke style of hard labor in prison, where preying on our society is not rewarded with 3 square meals a day, free health care, and cable TV.

15yrs for holding up a bank at gunpoint = JUSTICE

Robbery by force and violence and by intimidation and knowingly using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence. Then he stole a bank employee's vehicle. So, Lindasue, it's not "only $4,422."

Losing 15 years of your life for only $4,422.

Was it Bear Creek Commons or Beaver Creek Commons Drive in Apex? On the picture it says Beaver in the story it says Bear. I agree with imsorry, "Wow That's all he gets?"
