Fuquay-Varina man arrested after high-speed chase

Posted March 24, 2013

— A Fuquay-Varina man faces numerous charges after leading authorities on a three-county, 25-mile chase with speeds up to 90 mph.

Brian Keith Jones Jr., 31, was jailed Sunday morning on several charges, including driving while impaired, reckless driving, driving with a revoked license and trafficking cocaine.

Capt. James Stevens, a spokesman for the Wake County Sheriff's Office, said a deputy tried pulling Jones for speeding around 7:30 a.m. on Interstate 40 near Garner but that he sped off.

That prompted the pursuit through Johnston and Harnett counties. It ended near Coats after authorities deployed stop strips.

I don't understand why someone who obviously doesn't want to get caught by the police would speed. I only go 9 over because I want to avoid a ticket - if I had all this stuff to be worried about, I probably would go the exact speed limit and obey all traffic laws. It doesn't make sense, but I guess someone will all these problems doesn't have a lot of common sense.
