A group of Fuquay-Varina dancers have landed a pretty big gig: the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The Studio Five Dance Company is one of only two dance studios from North Carolina invited to the parade this year. The dancers will take to the 2.5-mile route through New York City in front of an estimated 3.5 million people.
In all, 11 girls from the dance company will perform with the Spirit of America Dance Group. They're not only going to one of the biggest events of the holiday season, though, the crew is also making history as the first studio from Fuquay-Varina to dance in the parade.
Studio Five leaves on Saturday to be in place for rehearsals, some of which could last as long as eight hours.
But the dancers aren't the only local performers heading to NYC: the Cary High School band will join the fun, too. The Cary band is one of ten schools chosen to play in the 2016 parade.
The 90th Macy's Thanksgiving Parade will be on WRAL-TV on Thursday beginning at 9 a.m.
