Fundraiser held to support Metro Police K9 teams

Posted August 7

— People who call Mundy Township and Swartz Creek home pulled together to keep man's best friend on the job.

The Metro Police Authority of Genesee County now has two K9 officers.

To make sure Roscoe 1 and Roscoe 2 are well taken care of, Hank and Don's Bar hosted a fundraiser Sunday evening.

Roscoe 2 may look familiar.

He used to be named Sonitrol and was part of a K9 team in the city of Flint.

His handler took a job with Metro Police and wanted to take his partner with him.

But the Metro Police budget didn't allow for the added expense of an additional search and tracking dog.

The fundraiser will help offset some of the costs.

"We finally got the agreement worked out with the city and we've been on for a couple months now. Knowing that the community is backing and supporting this, we're excited. I'm always excited to go to work, he's excited to go to work everyday. Everyday is a new day and it's full of excitement we love it. Both of us," said Andy Grocholski, Roscoe 2's handler.

If you missed the fundraiser you can still support Roscoe 1 and 2 by contacting the police department.
