FSU plans national search after nursing director resigns
Fayetteville State University plans to undertake a national search for a director for the school's troubled nursing program after the program's director resigned.

Phyllis Morgan plans to step down as chairwoman of the nursing program on June 30, when she will continue teaching classes.
FSU Chancellor James Anderson suspended the program last month, saying he wouldn't allow any new students to enroll in the program until administrators could overhaul it.
The new director will be charged with leading the overhaul, officials said.
The 4-year-old program has been plagued by students performing poorly on state nursing exams and has been on state probation for the past two years.
Forty-six percent of FSU students passed the state licensing exam in the past two years, far below the 83 percent pass rate required by the state Board of Nursing during a two-year period.
Rising seniors in the program will be allowed to complete their degree. The university also offers a two-year program for registered nurses to earn bachelor's degrees.
