Frugal fun this weekend!

Even with this crazy heat, there are lots of fun frugal activities to check out around the Triangle. Good news...some take place inside!

With the temps expected to be at 100 degrees this weekend, it's time to find some fun, frugal activities that do not include a meltdown!  Here are some ideas to keep you cool and keep your wallet happy.  There are also a couple that will still make your wallet smile, but you'll be feeling the heat along with the fun.

Lowes Build and Grow Workshop - FREE and INSIDE!  This Saturday, 7/24, your little one can build a UFO including stickers and a blinking light at Lowes Home Improvement stores from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM.  Workshop also includes apron and goggles. You will need to pre-register online and be one of the first 50 kids at the store at 10 AM. Make sure you pre-register so you can see if your store still has slots available.
Triangle Town Center KidsFest - FREE (but outside!) This Sunday, 7/25 from 2 - 5 PM outside the Triangle Town Commons in North Raleigh, your kids can enjoy 20' inflatable slides, kids karaoke, performances by Flow Circus, a trackless train, face painting, games prizes and more!
NC Museum of Natural Sciences - always FREE! This might be a great weekend to venture to downtown Raleigh to the science museum and stay out of the heat!  They are open on weekends including Saturday from 9 am - 5 pm and Sunday from noon to 5:00 pm.
Kidzu Children's Museum in downtown Chapel Hill - FREE on Sundays!  AND parking in downtown Chapel Hill is now FREE on Sundays, as well! This interactive kids museum has a bunch of hands-on activities for little ones up to about 8 years old.
NC Museum of History - FREE! Hours on the weekend are Saturday from 9 am - 5 pm and Sunday from noon - 5 pm.
Redbox time - it's only $!.00!  We love to watch movies together as a family and I really love the $1 Redbox movies.  The whole family can watch a great movie for only a buck. Rent a movie or two, pop some popcorn at home and save a TON of money compared to going to the theater! To find a Redbox near you, click on the link in the box.

For a number of other fun (but not free) weekend activities, check out the Go Ask Mom page at the link in the box!

If you know of any other fun and frugal weekend activities, please post them here.
