The Storybook Theater Series will wrap up its first season with "Frosty the Snowman," which opens Friday at Duke Energy Center for Performing Arts in Raleigh.

The series, which includes the support of Marbles Kids Museum, is a collaboration between Broadway Series South and the former CEO of N.C. Theatre, who now leads Forth Worth's Casa Manana Theatre. Casa Manana has a popular children's performance series. Storybook Theater features productions from Casa Manana. Read more about the background here.

The series launched with "Rapunzel: A Very Hairy Tale." It continued in April with "Disney's Winnie the Pooh, Kids" and in early November with "Dora the Explorer Live! Dora's Pirate Adventure."

The aim of the series is to expose more young families to live theater by bringing in hour-long shows, featuring favorite children's characters and keeping ticket prices low. Tickets start at $14. (Kids age one year and up must have a ticket).

Frosty runs from Friday, Nov. 29, to Dec. 24 at the Duke Energy Center's Fletcher Opera Theater. As you may guess, the show is based on the classic tale of the snowman who comes to life.
