Mild Monday to give way to a little rain and a cool week
After a cold dawn, North Carolina will enjoy a brief taste of mild weather Monday before rain rolls in Tuesday, and below-normal temperatures settle in for the week.

"It'll be another cold start Monday, but the temperatures get nicer," WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said.
The mercury will start around 30 degrees Monday morning but leap to around 61 degrees amid abundant sunshine.
Although "it should be a pretty nice day," Wilmoth said, "that's the last we see of the 60s for a while."
On Tuesday, a cold front will roll through the state, dropping the daily high to around 54 degrees. The day will be cloudy, and rain chances will increase through the late afternoon and evening.
The sun will dispatch the clouds for the rest of the week, but it will stay on the cool side of normal through next weekend. Highs will stay in the mid to upper 50s, while nightly lows will range from the upper 20s to upper 30s.
The average high for this time of year is 60 degrees, while the average low is 38 degrees.
